Anybody out there that wants to come and join us here in Mexico for an adventure? I can guarantee you that you will not regret it.

For more detailed information please look at www.workaway.info where we have a profile.

We constantly need help so anytime is fine. Please share this with anyone that you think could be interested or might know someone that would want to do this for 3 months (minimum 3 months).

The volunteer/Pet Au-Pair position is to help out in 2 different locations on a rotating schedule:

  • At our small B&B “Hacienda las Ánimas” where we have some of the animals. (2 people)

  • We have finished our new location Casa Nopal which is close to town. (4 -5 people)

In both locations we need help with the daily chores when it comes to the animals: Feeding, walking, clean up, socialise them, help to adopt out dogs, bring some to the beach and walk around town and get them familiarised with traffic, people, kids etc.

We also need help with social media as Instagram and facebook and updating our website with photos and info on the dogs and it might be answering inquiries about dogs and to help fill out information sheets on the dogs leaving us.

Some of the volunteers have also volunteered at spay & neuter clinics which we support as they are the answer to the homeless dog and cat situation.

This is a live-in position meaning you will need to help with regular house chores as keeping it clean, room and board is provided and a token “salary” provided. You will not get rich in money but everyone we have had has said it was worth it and an experience for life.

We are looking for people who, first of all, love animals and are not scared to get their hands dirty and are down to earth. 21 years and up and independent people who can take initiatives with a wish for something different for 3 months.

Driver’s license is a requirement as we have a car available for vet visits or maybe outings with dogs and we also have 2 ATV’s to do smaller shopping and it's only about a 5 minute drive to the B&B from the new location we call Casa Nopal.

A 3-month stay is minimum as it takes time to get to know the animals and the routines and it’s not good for the rescue animals to have too many changes. Unfortunately we have had several instances with helpers where it has not worked out and we have had to ask them to leave. Unnecessary inconsistency is very bad for our dogs so we must ask that you PLEASE do not apply if you are more interested in living for free near the beach than in the dogs! We understand that it’s tempting when living in paradise but if you want a holiday please choose a more suitable workaway i.e. a hostel.

So far we have had volunteers from Sweden, Norway, Canada, Australia, The United States, Slovenia, and many other countries since 2010.
